Keeping Your RA Treatment Cool While Traveling

If you take RA treatment that requires refrigeration, you may be nervous about how to take it with you when you travel. But you don’t need to worry. With a little bit of planning, you can make sure that your RA medication stays safe and sound while you are on the road. These are some tips to guide you:

Ask your doctor or nurse to recommend a cooler for storing your medication
Call your airline ahead of time to find out what kind of services they offer. For example, you may be able to pack RA medication in dry ice or rent a special climate-controlled container
Before you leave home, ask your motel or hotel where you can store your medication. Many places offer in-room refrigerators, so ask about that when you make your reservation
Do not check your medication on a train or plane. Always carry your medication in a carry-on bag
